“HUSH” A POEM BY A SURVIVOR

Hush… Keep quiet
Don’t say a word
Make sure your cries in the night aren’t heard

Hush… Keep quiet
People can’t know
Cover your wounds and don’t let them show

Hush… Keep quiet
Bury the shame
Don’t let your misfortune tarnish His name

Hush… Keep quiet
Swallow, restrain
Brush off your anger, dismiss all your pain

Hush… Keep quiet
Don’t cry and don’t feel
If it never is mentioned, then it wasn’t real
