In 2016 Shimon Amar plead guilty to charges of sexual abuse of three female victims, one of whom was 14 years old. He met and groomed his victims in his position of a Rabbinic advisor. The original charges included numerous counts of sexual assault and sodomy. Amar was sentenced to 3.5 years incarceration and to pay financial reparations to his victims.
