[Poem] It seems one step forward Is seven steps back

She places one foot
In front of the other
Determined to climb
The mountain before her

She grabs at the stone
She swears she won’t stop
Until she’s gripped, clawed and battled
Her way to the top

Her body is bruised
Her fingernails black
And it seems one step forward
Is seven steps back

The sun’s fallen down
The day has departed
And she finds herself standing
Right back where she started

She remains unaware
Of the weight on her shoulder
But she can’t carry herself
Until she puts down the boulder
