In October 2017, Elbogen was arrested in Jerusalem on suspicion of rape and sodomy of a 13 year old girl. Evidence found on his phone at the time of his arrest indicated the possibility of additional victims. Elbogen was indicted on October 29, 2017 in a Jerusalem court.
In October 2018 Elbogen was convicted of sexual acts against a minor and possession of child pornography. An appeal in January 2019 was denied.
He was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and 12 months probation.
