Friedman was accused of inappropriate conduct with a female minor in the Long Island Jewish Center of East Northport, and was terminated in 1990. He then moved upstate and in 1992 began working in a conservative synagogue in Albany, NY.
In 2000, a civil lawsuit was settled with the East Northport victim, and subsequently, in 2006, an investigation was initiated into new allegations of molestation against him in Albany.
Friedman ultimately pled guilty to one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and one count of Forcible Touching, and was sentenced to six years probation and required to register as a sex offender.
