Benisty was arrested in 2009 in New York for sexually abusing two girls, ages 8 and 10. He was convicted and sentenced to 11 months incarceration, and deported to Israel in 2010.
In Israel he was arrested and charged with numerous counts of child molestation and attempted rape. Benisty plead guilty, underwent chemical castration and was sentenced in early 2013 to 4.5 years incarceration, subject to early release after 3.5 years.
